The Bristol Benevolent Institution (or BBI) is a Bristol based charity.
It was established in 1869 dedicated to provide relief to the elderly residents of Bristol who have been reduced to poverty and are unable to provide for themselves.
This relief takes the form of financial and pastoral support as unique as the individuals it supports.
Dating back to a time before the Welfare State a group of Bristol philanthropists recognised the hardship faced by those hit by unfortunate circumstances and decided to offer help.
The work of the charity is as relevant today as it always was.
